Without Christ and the Atonement,
there would be no grace. Without grace none could “lay hold on eternal life” (1Tim. 6:12).
With benefits provided by the Light
of Christ or Truth, the Gift of the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit or the Spirit
of God, and the Grace of God, we have an abundance of help and direction from
our Heavenly Father to return to His heavenly home, if we expend our own best efforts as well.
2.4
Functions of Grace
It can be stated, there are two primary roles that grace addresses.
- Unconditional: Rescue from the grave to a state of resurrection of all souls regardless of merit.And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:29; ba)
- Conditional: Spiritual aid during our time in mortality
- to overcome anything that will prevent exaltation, as we seek after it, and
