Selected Pages From Grace After Works: Page 15

Without Christ and the Atonement, there would be no grace. Without grace none could “lay hold on eternal life” (1Tim. 6:12).

With benefits provided by the Light of Christ or Truth, the Gift of the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of God, and the Grace of God, we have an abundance of help and direction from our Heavenly Father to return to His heavenly home, if we expend our own best efforts as well.

2.4   Functions of Grace

It can be stated, there are two primary roles that grace addresses.
  1. Unconditional: Rescue from the grave to a state of resurrection of all souls regardless of merit.

And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:29; ba)

  2. Conditional: Spiritual aid during our time in mortality

About:
Grace After Works endeavors to provide the reader with a correlation of Grace to Works, answering how each is a necessary and complimentary component toward the goal of achieving exaltation to be fully reunited with our Heavenly Father.
This book organizes many of the various scattered scriptural teachings on the subjects of Grace and Works, which by themselves today may confuse rather than depict fully what the inspired authors then wrote and intended at that time for their select audiences.
Some of the positions taken in the book, after a review of the Scriptures are:

  • We must earn through good works the necessary grace from our Savior Jesus Christ to live an "eternal life." Good works profit us and are "counted" unto us as righteousness, a prerequisite to exaltation. Counting and profiting, being judged by our works, are scriptural terms indicating earning. Grace ultimately is a free gift to those who have complied with the commandments of God. If done for the purpose of glorifying God, complying with those requirements equates to "works." That said, works  by themselves, without grace, cannot save us to the highest of heavens. But ignoring or disobeying God's promptings will not ensure us life eternal.
  • The Scriptures teach we are [present tense] to be perfect in this life, that is, to do the best we can to obey the laws of faith, which equals perfection for mortals.
  • Why Paul was so adamant about Grace, more so than other prophets.
  • Understanding Paul's condemnation of works of the law.
  • A review of the usage of the term Grace in scripture, who used it and how much.
